I am Jim Weaver, Founder and Director of Academic Choice
Tutoring. I was born, raised and educated in Lancaster County
where I graduated from both Hempfield High School and Lancaster
Bible College. My education prepared me for a teaching and
training profession. I have been a Middle and High School
teacher in a private school, and then a trainer in the corporate
setting, leading classes and seminars for employees and staff.
Through my experience teaching over the years I became more
and more convinced that no matter the level of learning of
the student, nor expertise of the instructor, most students
that needed extra help outside the classroom benefited greatly
from one-on-one personalized instruction. From this conviction
and the desire to help students overcome their academic struggles,
or simply to get caught up or get ahead, Academic Choice
Tutoring was born.
Many factors
went into the development of ACT, but the primary purpose
has always been providing a personal, convenient,
flexible, trustworthy, affordable and quality tutoring service.
I personally meet and interview each applicant who desires
to tutor with the company. Their credentials, certifications,
clearances, background and references are all checked by
me. I also meet with every parent and student to discuss
their needs and goals for tutoring, building a profile based
on learning style and personality so that a perfect tutor
/ student match can be made. For your convenience our tutors
have flexible schedules and all come to your home where the
student is more comfortable and less inhibited than in a
group setting. Our rates are competitive with tutoring services
in the area and we never have any testing fees or other hidden
costs. Likewise, we do not require long-term contracts or
a minimum number of sessions for your student to receive
tutoring. Finally, I follow up with a phone call to each
client and tutor after the first tutoring session to be certain
all went well and to ensure that everyone is perfectly satisfied.
